Hi there. The 2012 Beechworth Harvest Festival has come and gone for another year. The weather was bright and sunny. A great time was had by all visitors; sampling many local wines and foods. Yours truly and the "boss" volunteered on the glasses stand. Together, we handed out some 1600 glasses. They were plastic and most people thought that was fabulous. We had a few visitors return for a another glass, claiming they couldn't remember where they put their glass down! Oh my.
There was a kids corner with face painting and that was well supported.
Collin's Apples won the best stall.
Check out the photos:
The wine room was very popular, presented by wine producers and wine experts
The crowd enjoying the sunny day.
Roasted chestnuts anyone?
Yours truly and Cheryl, wearing our Harvest Festival hats.
Collins Apples. Locally grown and winner of the best stall.

Drive Back In Time 2012
If you love old cars, you should mark the first Saturday in May 2013 for our Drive Back In Time festival weekend.
You can participate in various events put on by the Old Cranks Club on the Saturday and either put your love and joy on display on the Sunday or walk around and admire some exquisitely restored and presented cars. There is the odd vintage/veteran truck as well. This year I understand there were 190 cars on display and they really did look spectacular lined up in the street. Some photos for your enjoyment and what you can look forward to next year.
Although I haven't any photos from this year, also presented were various steam engines. All working and puffing steam. Here are just a few of the cars on the day. Enjoy.

EASTER 2012
Well Easter is here and our guests are all settled in. It's time for me to have a few days off. It's been quite hectic these past 2 months or so. We've added the 3rd bedrooms as we've said and have now painted the bulk of the outside timbers. Those of you that have visited us previously will appreciate the difference. The cottages just look so much better. And we've been constantly upgrading the gardens, adding bits here and taking out bits elsewhere. I have to say the cottages haven't look so good for many a long year. You'll just have to come and see to appreciate. Here are some pics of the day...Moomba, eat your heart out.

NO FLOODS AT BEECHWORTH
Hi there to all of you considering a trip to Victoria's North East. You have no doubt heard and read of heavy floods and rain up here and that may be deterring you or leading you to postponing your trip.
Well there are no floods here in Beechworth and neither are the roads to Beechworth closed.
A quick check on the Vic Roads website will confirm before you leave if you're in doubt or the weather changes again! So really, there's no reason not to visit our wonderful town and of course, stay with us at Country Charm Cottages.
Cheers

GHOST TOURS
If you believe in Ghosts or not, the Beechworth Ghost tour of the old Mayday Hills mental asylum makes for an extremely interesting tour. You will be amazed at how easy it was to have someone admitted and how extraordinarily difficult it was to get out!
The asylum only closed just over a decade or so ago. You will hear of the treatment of inmates/patients that beggars belief.
Still it would be better for you to go along and see and hear for youselves what life was like in the Mayday Hills mental asylum.
We currently have 10 buy one, get one free admission tickets freely available on a first come first serve basis. Simply ask when booking your stay.

ADDING 3rd BEDROOMS
Country Charm Cottages are very pleased to announce that both Gardenia Cottage and Camellia Cottage now have a third bedroom. This exciting news means both Gardenia and Camellia have more flexibility with accomodating larger groups.

At this time, we don't intend setting up bedroom3 with the option of a King bed.
Please note that bedroom 3 has a door to close off bedroom 2
